Carved Agate Rose Necklace
By Shanina
The stunning green agate carved rose pendant and green and purple glass bead piece to the right is my second "for sale" piece that is available through my Etsy shop www.ShaninaGardner.etsy.com.
This piece consists of a green agate carved rose pendant attached to a pipa knot constructed in black satin rat tail cord with a sterling silver jump ring. To ensure that the pipa knot doe not come undone, I have coated that whole knot in a thin coating of PVA glue. This ensures that the knot sits flat and doesn't ripple.
To attach the pipa knot pendant to the rest of the necklace, I tied button knots over the black cord to secure it.
As you can see from the image to the right, I placed green and purple glass beads onto the necklace as it helped to tie the piece together colourwise.
I used a double length of purple cord so that I could "wrap" a cord over the glass beads as a mini feature. Due to the way that I tied the button knots between the glass beads, the cord that was acting as the wrap would sit in a different position each time. I think this adds a little quirky appeal to the piece instead of having all the cords line up down one side.
To finish the piece off, I have used a purchased sterling silver parrot clasp and jumpring.
I hope that this piece is able to go to a good home and have an owner that loves a little bit of quirkiness and difference in their jewellery pieces.
Please stop by my Etsy shop and have a look.
As I have said in previous hubs, I am open to constructive criticism and colour suggestions. I do love to make quirky pieces because I think that jewellery should be an expression of the person wearing it.
Stay tuned for more pieces to come....
