Jade and agate necklace
By Shanina
Finally I have something exciting to hub about...the piece in the photo is my first for sale to all comers piece. That's right folks, I am selling this piece.
I can hear those who are interested now going, "Where ca I get it?" Well, it's for sale in my Etsy shop...that's right little me has a shop to sell my jewellery out of. The address for my shop is www.ShaninaGardner.etsy.com. Please drop by and decide if you think this piece is for you.
The necklace is made from a green agate donut pendant suspended on argentium silver wire that is then wrapped around the black satin rat tail. There are ten green jade round beads all up - five on each side - that are strung on argentium silver wire that was looped onto the rat tail also. Between each bead i tied a knot...this was to stop the beads clanging against each other and to keep the loops in place. Because of the way that I arranged them, it gives a kinda peas in a pod look to the side of the necklace. All of the knots used are not your average knot either. I have tied button knots between each bead, as well as on the sides of the bail and beside the clasp and jumpring closure.
As you can see from the picture of the beads, I have looped the wire so that it gives a vine like appearance. I continued this idea on from the bail for the pendant. I made a fish hook clasp to close the necklace at the back instead of using a purchased closure to give a complete hand crafted look to the piece.
There will be more to come, so please keep watching...hopefully one the bext pieces that I craft may be the one for you, if this isn't exactly you.
Each of my pieces is very special to me and parting with them is hard, but the pieces that I love but don't wear all need good homes with owners that will love them as much as I do and wear them with pride knowing that they have a special piece that no one else has.
