The Jade Turtle Pendant on Coiled Blue Glass Seed Beads and Ribbon Necklace That I Made
62Welcome to my creativity
As a new hubber, i'm not too sure that what i find interesting is what you will find interesting, but here goes nothing...
the one thing that relaxes me and helps me tune out from the world is beading. as there was no option to chose this i left the arts and crafts blank. i use beading to make my own jewellery that on occassion gets commandeered by my 13 year old. not that i haven't made pieces for her specially, but the question she always asks is - Mine? a bit like the seagulls from Finding Nemo. Anyway, i thought that i would use the hub pages to guage whether or not what i think is a great piece is what others think is a great piece. in an effort to do this what i am going to do is show you the photos that i have taken of certain pieces and any and all comments would be welcome. if you can see a way o improve or modify the piece let me know. all input is valued. i will also give a description of the materials that i used to make the piece so that you have a better understanding of what makes it up. the only hting i can't tell you is how ling it took to make as i don't tend to time myself and i'm not always working on one piece at a time. i hope that by hubbing, i will be able to make enough money to do the jewellery fulltime to build on the pieces that i have to then be able to sell them. that's about as far as my thought process has gotten.
so let's take the first step...let's look at a piece...forgive me for the not so professional photography, i only have a small digital camera to work with.
Sea Turtle
as you can see from the images to the right the top one is of the whole necklace. i used a carved jade turtle that came as a bracelet from - gotta love it - eBay. the rest is glass sead beads twisted on wire, strung onto ribbon and finished with a couple of sliding macrame knots. the trick was getting the turtle to hang properly because it is carved around the sides to act as a slider and i didn't want it to fall out. when i first got these beads in my package from China, all i could think of was getting the turtle back into the ocean. he seems to swim there quite happily. i have worn this necklace a couple of time to work - when i was working - and had the boss tell me he was paying me too much if i could afford this necklace.
This necklace is also the basis for Coiled Pink Seed Beads and Shell Pendant. When you look at that piece you will also see another piece that was based on the same design. It works up fairly quickly as all three designs took an afternoon or evening to go from separate pieces into a whole completed piece of jewellery.
so what do you think? please leave comments if you love it, hate it, think it could be improved. all feedback is appreciated.
